My 2000 Volkswagen auto transmission literally jumps into gear like a released rat trap. especially in the morning. I first noticed it goes as long as 4 to 5000 Rpm especially after having ran the car for 90miles/hr over a while. i had the trans oil changed but thereafter the problem persisted. i do not know what oil the mechanic used. however i notice it does the same thing. and this time around, it will jump into gear with a snap especially after i move it in the morning before the car is driven a few yards. It occurs when the car has been parked and the engine left to cool. Please help.

You MUST use only genuine VW/Audi trans fluid in this car. It is GOLD in color and has special properties. If other fluid has been mixed with it, you are in trouble. You will have to drop the pan, and inspect the valve body for signs of spring keeper failure. There was a recall on these items, they cost about $4-5 dollars for the set. Also, check for signs of coolant leaking into The machanic you used was probably not trained for VW issues. These units have no dipstick or fill tube, per se. You have made a BIG mistake. Also, these transmissions have a computer diagnostic terminal that is VW specific, and the VW dealer can "read" the transmission while it is working and can reprogram the computer system involved. Another source of trouble is a dirty throttle body, since it sends signals to the trans operating computer. Avoid trouble, do it RIGHT!!!
